This is a tribute to my grandma Lucy’s life, may she rest in peace. Both her and my grandfather had a deep Catholic faith. My grandfather would often corner people in interactions by starting with the line, “In the beginning, there was God.” It became a bit of a joke, because of his accent and how often he said it. Such a simple sentence breaks up the three phases of our existence that we can regognize. In the beginning, birth, there was, life, God, merging back with the creator.

The people we surround ourselves with say something about us. We cannot know the extent of their inner world; so they almost behave like mythological creatures to us. Some may reflect an unresolve we have within ourselves, stir up a similar frustration. Some we admire, as we recognize a quality they inhibit somewhere within ourselves, and being around them it calls that aspect forward. We are all extensions of each other. Each others shadows and gods in differenet masks.
